These are my best friends for the next couple of days while I'm recuperating. I'm not much of an artist but I try and it's fun for me to do so. My daughter and I had a lot of fun drawing and painting today and these are what we did.

I call this one Amelia. I love her huge eyes. I used watercolor and poster paint.

This one is called Gabriela. Used poster paint and mixed media - mainly stickers and tape.

This pretty girl is Estella. Used watercolors, poster paint and permanent markers.

This is Mrs. Havinsham. I used pencil, oil pastel and permanent markers.

I think the medications were already taking effect by the time I drew this one. Used markers, mostly.

And this is Olivia. The shading's wonky as I'm working with available light and it was dusk when I did this. And the smell of the markers plus my medications were already taking me to my happy place.

Some pages from my art journal. I'm into either very dark colors or major brightness.

I got inspired by some pages I saw on the internet. I decided to make my own art journal. To tell you the truth, I thought it was initially pansy-ish and geek like. But hey, I get to have dirty fingernails, I get to doodle and I get to release some pent up tension in my life. So, I went for it.

These are my latest two pages. The first page says "She was all lips and hands but that did not stop him from kissing her endlessly" The cyclops woman has the lyrics of Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah"

I should do this more often. I need to stock up on art supplies and notebooks. Beautiful - a reason for me to shop. *sigh* I love this new hobby.

I fell in love with a Moleskine ever since I held one in my hands. I love the way the blank pages seem to mock and taunt me into writing something on it.

This is my first Moleskine. I've called her Mnemosyne - the Greek goddess of memory. She keeps my memories for me, to share it back to me someday when I've conveniently forgotten.

Words adorn her pages like vine on an old castle wall. Photographs are like windows for my mind's eye to see. I've let her keep my stories so she can whisper them back to me like a mother's lullaby when I need comforting.

I used to write to save myself. Now, I write about how I am saved.

I've been amazed by that journal project in the states that I've decided to make one of my own.

Like I've said a thousand times before, the romance of putting ink on paper has died. I'm trying, in my own little way, to revive it.
