Not so new show - Glee

Posted by The Red Devil on Thursday, November 19, 2009 in ,

I'm a late bloomer when it comes to new shows. I usually don't like to follow the crowd and if only a handful of people come up to me to recommend some shows, I look at it with skepticism. Glee, was one of the shows that proved me wrong.

Initially, I thought it was a sad rip off to the very popular High School Musical series that I absolutely detest. No offense to those who like hearing songs being sung by a chihuahua, but Vanessa Hudgens sings at a pitch that only dogs can hear. In Tagalog - BoPek (boses pekpek). And she's to pretty to be categorized as a geek, seriously...

Glee, however is not quite as sanitized as that. I was enthralled by the fact that it's a musical comedy. Two, it's realistic enough to deal with certain topics high school kids really deal with - Diversity, bullying, love, pregnancies, fitting in, etc.

Another reason why I'm now a loyal Gleek (that's what they call the fans of the show) is that I knew how it was to be part of the loser crowd. It wasn't until second year high school that they stopped bullying me, thanks to the help of Paeng, Rita and Jason. (Yes Paeng, it IS supposed to be two eyebrows not one. Thank you very much) I could totally relate to Rachel. I was that in high school. Anyhoo, my tragic high school memories is not the topic here. Glee - let's go back to Glee.

I can rave about it all I want but I'm very partial to it. I want you to watch it and judge for yourself. You can watch all 9 episodes here. Click here to go to the official website.
