The importance of clouds and other lies

Posted by The Red Devil on Saturday, September 19, 2009 in , , , ,

The official book launch will be in October.

***

I'm getting emotional and choked up just looking at it. It's a dummy copy but still - the feeling of having it in my hands and realizing the tangibility of my dreams just can't compare.

We'll be doing the rounds soon for promotion. The Universe and I are finally on the same page. Teeheehee...

Official book launch will be sometime in March. For now, we're still in the final creative stages. But it's a go.

Deathly Hallows

Speaking of books, the last book in the Harry Potter series willbe out on the 21st of July. This bokk, according to J.K. Rowling will be the end. Not necessarily of Harry Potter, thought here, among speculations, that he is the one referred to when J.K. mentioned of character death in the book.

I personally think that it will be Harry Potter who will kick the bucket in this book. What better way to end a series than with the main character dying. This way, there will be no more sequels and Harry Potter (or at least the character) will remain to be Harry Potter.

Then again, if he dies, Voldemort should die too.

Or, the other thought that comes to mind is Draco Malfoy. But he's too yummy to kill off.

Hehehe.

Absolutely Beautiful

Last Friday, Brew and I went walking around Makati, waiting for the traffic to ease up, and found ourselves in PowerBooks.

He pointed this series of books to me and said, "You should read this, dude"

Ok, the fact that he calls me dude is just not right. What would he call me then? So, Dude it is.

But I digress, He said he'll lend me the first three books of this series.

"Dude, before Lake House was ever created, this was out."

I don't like Lake House. I didn't even watch it.

I was wrong.

I just finished reading the first three books: Griffin & Sabine, Sabine's Notebook and The Golden Mean and I want MORE!

I cried twice within 30 minutes of reading it. I cried!! It's friggin' awsome.

Read it.

You must.

Book for the week

Posted by The Red Devil on Friday, April 20, 2007 in , ,

I'm reading "Funny Accent" by Barbara Shulgasser-Parker. She also wrote the move "Pret-a-Porter" and was also a film critic.

I think it's hilarious! Beautifully written and poignant. She wrote something there that made me go "Awww...."

They say marriage is the end of romance - it's not. It's the start. He says I love you and I say I love you to him. The good part starts then.... No more wondering, no more maneuvering.... Full of confidence, you start every day with the sole determination to demonstrate your love and bask in his... That's the romance - keeping love joyously alive everyday.

Update: It's 10:41, roughly an hour and a half after I started reading the book. I'm done and I can't help but feel like I've been robbed.
Though the book was interestingly written, full of passion and comedic sorts injected in places you know they should be, the ending was a bit lacking.
The book is about a woman who, after three decades finally realizes that she was sexually abused by an old family friend (about 30 years older). She finally decided to write about it, as she is a writer, and thereby opening a can of worms.
It does not help that the molester, aside from being a family friend, was also a one time lover of her mother! Ay dios ko!
It's an interesting book - interesting enough however, the ending could've been better.

Music and books

Posted by The Red Devil on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in ,
Was reading Salman Rushdie's "The satanic verses" over the weekend. I haven't finished it yet, but I think I have another author's name to put in my list of great writers.

I'm having a weird music craving. I'm listening to Thalia's en extasis album. Yes, Marimar - Thalia. And what makes this even weirder, I can sing her songs! I've memorized it - in Spanish! Currently, I'm singing "Quiero hacerte el amor". I have no bloody frigging clue what it is, but me likey! I think it means "I want your love" or something.

Now here's the other weird part. I'm also listening to "Norma" by Bellini as sung by Maria Callas. I love it!!! I can soo feel it even though I have no idea what they're singing about.

I guess this is why music is truly the universal language. You can relate tot he song even if you have no idea what it means. The feelings and the poignant emotions are expressed even if the language is different.

I say, go and I-mesh or torrent these albums. You'll love it. Promise.
