Saturday Flash Fiction # 4 - As long as it doesn't rain
I've never liked nature and anything that would require me to be within three feet of anything categorized as vegetation and yet, here I am, lying in a patch of grass with you. I'm trying to sniffle sneezes that make my eyes water and my body shudder.
You lie there beside me, hands in the air; your thumbs and fore fingers frame clouds in the sky and you aptly name each one. The sun's bright glare and the contrast of the deep green hue of the grass shows me just how brown and vibrant your eyes are. Your smile, also known in our circles as my greatest downfall, graces your beautiful face. You flash that smile and you know I am a mindless slave to you; willing and able to do every bidding you have.
You take my face into your hands and you lightly kiss my nose.
"Let's do this again tomorrow, okay Mommy?"
"As long as it doesn't rain, sweetie"
