Stupid
It seems that everything here in the Philippines takes seven minutes to make/bake/hand over/deliver.
I've had a weird craving for Jollibee's Peach Mango pie last night and decided to go make a drive through order. Lo and behold, they were fresh out of the damn pie. The cashier/wait staff said that it would take exactly seven minutes to make. Really? A pocket fruit pie takes 7 minutes to make? I tested the theory with another Jollibee branch. Guess what? I've been told, for the second time, that it takes 7 minutes to make the peach-mango pie.
I didn't wait for the first pie but I decided to go ahead and test my patience with this second pie. While waiting, I thought about why "7 minutes" was becoming popular. Maybe there was one dude who thought it was cooler to say 7 minutes instead of 5. It used to be 3-5 minutes but now, 7 minutes is just weird.
Maybe we're becoming more honest with our customers. We usually say that it takes 3 to 5 minutes but in truth, it takes 7 minutes. It takes 7 minutes for me to figure out what I am going to wear. It takes 7 minutes for me to stretch out the sleepiness that fogs my head. Maybe 7 minutes is the new 5?
I'm obsessing - forgive me. It's just weird for me. But the good news is, I did get my pie in 5 minutes
