We're not in high school anymore
You realize a lot of things when you go to a high school reunion. Initially, I was apprehensive and nervous. I mean, what if they make fun of me again? What if they think I'm a loser? What if, what if and what if?
Then you see that we are all just normal adults. The lucky ones who have their special someones and children, the single ones who are just enjoying their lives and the ones who are in transition. You remember the ones who were good to you - The queen bee and her second in command, the motherhen, the comic relief and the one that took you home on a Tuesday when you were delirious with fever.
You see your old bully and realize that he's not so scary anymore - that he's just another 30 something man trying to make good of his life for his family.
You see your old nemesis and feel better, not because she's in the dumps or fat or anything else (although those things help). You feel better because you know you never hurt anyone intentionally/unintentionally back in the days.
You applaud those who did good and encourage those who need it. You are truly happy for new parents and newlyweds because you know you've been there and that they will be truly happy too.
Then, you want to do it all over again. Maybe next month.
