My daughter is a real smart kid. Sometimes though, she's a smart ass and she somehow got my talent for being tactless.
I don't think she understands the concept of a stay at home mom, especially since she lived her 4 years with all the grown ups going to the office. She's used to it, so the concept of me being at home all the time is foreign to her.
While I was giving her a bath one time she asked me "Mommy, don't you go to the office anymore?"
I joked and said "Well, mommy doesn't have a job in the office anymore. My office is now the house."
"Is that why you are always at the computer?"
"Yup. I work at home now. I don't have a job anymore so I have to work rakets."
"You don't have a job?" Her face a little quizzical. I nodded and she started thinking. She has this face when she thinks.
"Are you poor now?"
I laughed and said I was sort of poor now.
She looked horrified and said "Oh no! They'll kick you out of the house because you don't have a job! They'll kick me out too!" And then she stopped and thought poignantly. "Wait... I'll be saved by my grandma. You'll get kicked out. Aww... Don't worry mommy, I'll visit you outside the house."
I didn't know if I should laugh or cry.
