This is a short story I've been working on. The creative bug bit me in the ass and I'm letting you see the effects.

It was the way she held herself that made her so attractive and desirable. Her mouth would always form the shape of a small "o" when she's deep in thought. Her hair, long and shiny made her look ethereal. He couldn't help but stare. It was like looking at a painting - the world's most perfect work of art.

She finally looks up to him from that blasted book she was reading.

"Can I help you?"

He thinks fast - he needs an excuse and quick.

"Can you show me how to get to Beaufort street?"

She looks at him quizzically.

"You're on it." And just like that, she goes back to her book.

Real smooth, jackass. He doesn't leave and continues to stare. She doesn't look up but says "Anything else I can help you with or are you just fascinated with me?"

You have to give her that. Sassy, beautiful and arrogant.

"It's just that I think I've met you before. Have we met?"

"Lame pick up line." She still doesn't look up.

"Can't blame a man for trying."

She scoffs, still keeping her eyes on her book.

"What's your name?"

"Not interested."

"That's a weird name. Scandinavian?"

She looks up at him. "You're annoying"

"No, I'm persistent. There's a difference."

"Same shit to me." Her eyes go back to the book.

"I'm Arthur." He puts out his hand for a shake.

"I'm clearly bothered by you. Now go bother some other hapless twit in this cafe, before I have your ass hauled out by security for harassment."

He laughs. "Wow! Am I that unattractive? Do I repulse you that much?"

"Do you really want to know?"

"Yes!"

"Then, yes. Now, shoo fly and don't bother me."

He sighed. Resigned and humiliated. He leaves and apologizes.

As he walked away, she looks up from her book and steals a glance. A waitress comes up to her to pour more coffee in her cup. "He'll be back tomorrow. He always comes back."

"I know. Why do you think I'm always here? God knows it's not your coffee."
