Letters, love or otherwise

Posted by The Red Devil on Thursday, May 31, 2007 in
I wonder if people keep a copy of the letters they've sent. I know it's a sin not to have a paper trail (Thank you, Harvie Calim) but doesn't that kill the mystery?

Whadamaitalkingabout?!

People don't write letters anymore!!

It's sad really. There's a certain passion to reading a letter (love or otherwise). There's that satisfaction that fills you knowing that you can access the sender's thoughts and feelings about you at anytime. It's amazing to find yellowed envelopes with equally yellowed paper that are covered in ink, words designed to make you smile or evoke sadness.

I've been keeping a journal for my kids. I write to each child, sharing wisdom (or whatever it is that I've got), stories, family recipes and what not. I keep letters for them, to read when they're older. I hope that these letters give them inspiration or a glimpse to what their mother is.

Hubby and I still write notes to each other. some find their way to the bathroom mirror, some find homes in lunch bags or wallets. It's a wonderful thing to find a personal handwritten note addressed to you.

There's the letter project that I've been posting about - it's a wonderful project and endeavour however, it is in the US.

I want to start my own letter project. I think we should be able to express ourselves and share happy thoughts to those that need them.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and check this website out - http://collectiveexperience.org/ They post letters (love or otherwise) from people. Some of them are hilarious, others boring and yet a few that tug your heartstrings.
