Amazing.
Isn't it amazing? I've recently discovered that even though there is that onslaught of technology and globalization bull crap, there are still some people out there that don't know jack shit.
The recent elections don't count. I like the fact that people are wising up to the fact that actors are not necessarily qualified to be senators. I would definitely fast track our Canadian immigration if Goma would've won. Puh-leaze.
I digress. I was completely thrown a curve ball when I was asked, by a complete stranger, mind you, if my life was better now that I'm not a maid anymore.
"...excuse me?"
That was a character I played when I was still active in show business. Granted, it was the most popular character I have ever played, but that was still a character.
Politely, I informed the worthless cretin that I am in the corporate world now. Working as a trainer for a contact center.
"Kaya pala pa ingles ingles ka na ngayon" (So that's why you speak in English now)
"No. I've always been able to speak English fluently and proficiently."
"Ito naman. Ang yabang na." (You are such a show off)
"One's capacity and ability to speak English is not a measure of a person's character. It just shows one's education and breeding, which I could honestly say, without having to feel guilty, is completely lacking in you. If you were not able to catch that, blatant meanings or sub texts, then I will not apologize for your total lack of decorum and basic manners."
With a huff and a puff, I turned snappily and left.
