Poetry from an old woman
because you are my lover
I can walk on jagged and sharp
rocks and glass without feeling
any pain
for you are my strength and with you
I can feel no hurt.
because you are my lover
I can readily open myself
and be vulnerable
be more naive
be more trusting
for you are my security
no longer shall I be afraid
of my own skin
and of who I am.
because you are my lover,
I can see the beauty of sunsets,
moonrises, the conflict
of dusk and dawn.
for you are my life
and I see the beauty
that most take for granted.
because you are my lover
I have known love, how to love
and be loved.
You are my love, my life, my all.
I can walk on jagged and sharp
rocks and glass without feeling
any pain
for you are my strength and with you
I can feel no hurt.
because you are my lover
I can readily open myself
and be vulnerable
be more naive
be more trusting
for you are my security
no longer shall I be afraid
of my own skin
and of who I am.
because you are my lover,
I can see the beauty of sunsets,
moonrises, the conflict
of dusk and dawn.
for you are my life
and I see the beauty
that most take for granted.
because you are my lover
I have known love, how to love
and be loved.
You are my love, my life, my all.
