Where did you get that from?

Posted by The Red Devil on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in ,
As we did our bedtime business the other night, my daughter was in the loo doing number two. Hubby passed by the door (the bathroom's en suite) within my daughter's sight range. She looks at her dad and says, without malice, "What's up fat boy?"

Hubby stopped dead in his tracks and looks at me, half amused and half accusing and says to me "Did you just hear what your daughter called me?" (When she's naughty, she's my daughter. But when she's all cute and brilliant, she's his)

I said no, of course.

Another lazy Sunday afternoon, as I was brushing my daughter's hair, she suddenly said to her grandmother who was watching TV

"Bai, you are very old and very forgetful"

Grandmotherhen looks at me and says

"This would be the best time for you not to say anything."

***

She's turning 4 next month. She's started asking the difficult questions:

1. How old are you?
2. Why is the sky blue?
3. Why are cats like that?
4. Why do my brothers have a pototoy?

Soon it will be:

1. Why won't you let me go with my friends?
2. Why are you so unfair?
3. Why don't you like my boyfriend?
4. Why can't I get my tongue pierced?

Ay dios ko...

hay i remember my lola on my dad's side, we called her Bai too... ayan naiiyak tuloy ako.

Taga Pangasinan din ba ang father mo?

Wag ka umiyak...

yes, Mangaldan (de Vera)... I only know anak na lasi though, hehehe...

Hahahaha!!! I'm actually raised and bred in Pangasinan - Lingayen to be exact.

You can also say "Ay, titiw ka!" (Ay, malandi ka!)

ahehehe...ayan, useful. i can say "mangan tila"...di ba ang meron wala? something like that, can't remember, twas too long ago.

Yup! Baliktad tayo. Wala is meron, Angapo is wala. It's actually a dying language. Halos wala na nagsasalita nun kaya nga tinuturuan namin ang mga bagets, kahit man lamang konti matuto sila.

Resty (ExpectoRants) is also from Pangasinan, I think he's also advocating teaching Panggalatok to the young Pangasinenses(?). yun nga daw, it's a dying language na. sayang naman, it's part of my heritage.

Talaga? Uy! dapat makilala ko siya! We can put up a school tapos ang medium of teaching eh Panggasinanse. Ang dali lang kasi matutong magsalita basta ouido pero ang hirap magbasa! Promise! Everytime magbabasa ako ng sarswelang Pangasinan eh tumatawag ako kay Rosa Rosal para lang magpa blood transfusion!

I've met him once, to exchange DVDs and books.

I found Cinema Paradiso, director's cut. Ne-excite ba...hobby ko yan eh, mag hoard ng DVDs. shet i love the Philippines!

ang naalala kong panggalatok words.. "lasim", "bauninam"... hahaha... but i'm proud of that heritage (my mom's side)... it gave me my high cheekbones, copper skin, and fiery temper. -- pamstr

Hi Ian! Funny your daughter. Reminds me of my eldest when she was 3. Everything was "why?" Now, I have to start worrying about boys and who she hangs out with. Yikes!!! Drop me a line if you have time.
